About This Course

This recorded webinar discusses the challenges that dementia patients have in accessing dental care, particularly the older population who often rely on third party to help with oral hygiene. The degenerative nature of dementia results in lack of capacity and as a result best interest meetings are regularly needed. It is important to ensure that dental care professional are onboard with prevention to prevent dental disease from occurring in the first place. In this webinar we have a dentist and dental therapist who are sharing their experiences of treating patients with dementia and how they overcome barriers in Special Care Dentistry.

Aims

To explore the challenges faced by dementia patients, particularly the elderly, in accessing dental care, and to highlight the importance of preventive strategies. To discuss the role of dental professionals in managing the oral health of dementia patients, focusing on evidence-based guidelines and best practices.
