This course aims to provide learners with a knowledge and understanding of the necessary tools to prevent sexual harassment within their practices, ensure compliance with the Worker Protection Act 2024, and foster a positive workplace culture that values inclusion and respect. 

Objectives

During this course, learners will be able to: 

  • Define sexual harassment as it is outlined in UK law, particularly under the Equality Act 2010.
  • Identify different types of sexual harassment and recognise how they manifest in a dental practice setting.
  • Understand who is affected by the new legislation and the scope of employer responsibilities.
  • Assess the impacts and risks that sexual harassment can have on individuals and businesses.
  • Implement key strategies and actions to demonstrate compliance with the new legal duty to prevent sexual harassment.
  • Develop a tailored action plan that addresses prevention, reporting mechanisms, and workplace culture improvements.

  • Standard 8.2.3: Where possible, you should raise concerns first with your employer or manager. However it may not alwaysbe appropriate or possible to raise concerns with them,particularly if they are the source of your concern.
  • Principle 9: Make sure your personal behaviour maintains patients confidence in you and the dental profession.
  • Standard 9.2: Protect patients and colleagues from risks posed by your health, conduct or performance.
