ProDental CPD have been a prominent supporter of strong public health policy, from supporting dental practices to provide care for patients safely during the early Covid period through to vaccination advocacy. Who can forget our webinar on Covid vaccination with Jason Leitch?
So, it’s no surprise that ProDental has also supported community water fluoridation for many years. Our recordings of “Reducing Oral Health Inequalities” with Sir Michael Marmot and the “Talking Fluoridation” webinars are a record of this, and remain available to view on our training platform.
The recently published public consultation on expanding community water fluoridation schemes across the north east of England provides an opportunity to respond and champion a public health intervention that is evidence based and has the potential to make a significant difference to oral health and oral health inequalities. There is now the very real prospect of the first wholly new scheme since 1985, so this is quite literally a generational opportunity to effect positive population health change. As dental team members, we see the misery of dental disease, and those of us who work in fluoridated areas see the benefits daily.
The webinar 'Community Water Fluoridation Expansion in the North East of England' on the 15th May, will look at the need for fluoridation in the north east, the science underpinning the public health intervention and how we can support the proposals as individuals and organisations. Join us and find out why and how all of us can support. Sir Micheal Marmot says reducing health inequalities is a social movement. This is oral health’s opportunity to get on board?
