In collaboration with the College of General Dentistry, this webinar will explore the requirements and expectations of a mentor during the early stages of a dental professional’s career. The discussion will include a reflection on alternative training pathways in implant dentistry, with a particular focus on a primary care setting. Additionally, the speakers will provide an introduction to accessing and joining the College's Mentoring Register for implant dentists.

Aims

This webinar aims to offer an insight into mentoring requirements and CGDent mentoring for clinicians looking to progress in the field of implant dentistry.  

Objectives

During this webinar learners will be able to: 

  • Understand the importance of mentorship during the early stages of a career in implant dentistry.
  • Explore the different training pathways available for implant dentistry, with a focus on those suited to a primary care setting.
  • Learn how to access and become a member of the CGDent Mentoring Register for implant dentists.

Choudhury Rahman

Dentist

Choudhury Rahman graduated from the University of Manchester in 2023 and is currently undertaking FD training in the Greater Manchester North Scheme. He also serves as a NextGen Ambassador for the College of General Dentistry. His clinical interests include oral surgery and prosthodontics, with aspirations to become a well-rounded GDP capable of providing full-mouth rehabilitation, including the placement and restoration of implants. Outside of work, he enjoys running and playing 5-a-side football.

Dental Implantologist

Amit is a current ADI trustee and Northwest Representative.  He qualified from the University of Manchester in 2001 and has since attained an MSc in dental implantology with distinction from the University of Salford and the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh implant diploma. 

He is a full time dental implantologist with over 20 years experience in treating implant cases from single placements to full mouth cases involving zygomatic implants.  Amit regularly performs reconstructive grafting of both hard and soft tissue and is involved in research to find methods in improving outcomes using digital technology.

Amit has taught for many years and is very experienced in teaching dentists but mainly focuses on teaching and mentoring the more complexed treatments such as full arch reconstructions to experienced implantologists.

Amit’s main focus is to reduce risk of complications by increasing the accuracy of implant surgical and restorative treatment using digital technology.
