This course provides information about sepsis including the definition and causes, and the implications for dental practices.

Aims

This course aims to provide an understanding of sepsis and the implications for dental practices.

Objectives

During this course learners will:

  • Understand the causes of sepsis and the risk factors.
  • Be aware of the prevalence of sepsis in the UK.
  • Be able to identify signs and symptoms of sepsis.
  • Be aware of possible complications and the prognosis.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:

  • How sepsis may present in a dental care setting.
  • The signs and symptoms of sepsis.
  • The possible complications of sepsis.
  • What the CQC will look for during practice inspections.
